Joining Forces for Democracy

Dresden science and culture calls for action

Joining forces to protect democracy! On May 25, the DRESDEN-concept alliance and the coalition for a cosmopolitan Dresden Bündnis Weltoffenes Dresden along with numerous partners are initiating a major public event promoting freedom and democracy in Dresden. Standing united as a strong voice for science, art and culture, TU Dresden, the University of Applied Sciences Dresden (HTW), Technische Sammlungen Dresden, Staatsschauspiel Dresden, the Philharmonic Orchestra Dresden and many other institutions want to set an example for our liberal democracy, cosmopolitanism and human rights. The large alliance of scientific and cultural institutions is organized by DRESDEN-concept and Bündnis Weltoffenes Dresden, which represent more than 80 scientific and cultural institutions in Dresden.

From 1:30 pm, four processions will set off in a march towards Dresden city centre. In addition to the TUD procession from Fritz-Foerster-Platzthree more will set off from SachsenplatzAlbertplatz and Wettiner Platz. They will meet at the Altmarkt, where the central event will take place between 3:30 pm and 6 pm.
